Pajaro Dunes is closed to Birders as of 2/1/24

Pajaro Dunes is private property. The management company has previously allowed birders access to the complex. Due to an individual violating this code the Pajaro Dunes management have cancelled permission for birders to access the property.

There is a code of conduct:

a) Only birding is allowed, no other activities are permitted.

b) You will need to obtain a parking pass at the gatehouse. It is best to walk around to the outside window to obtain the pass so as to minimize the number of people who enter the gatehouse. Park only in unassigned parking spots.

c) Be respectful of residents privacy. Do not enter any buildings on the property.

d) No pets.

e) If you are refused access do not confront the gatehouse staff, inform us of the situation.

f) If you wish to bring in a group you will need to let them know in advance. Only the leader will be given the password and we ask them not to share it with other members of the group.

g) mega-rarities. Since this is private property it is best not to immediately announce a mega either through ebird or MBB posts  etc; until such time  that we can arrange small group access with the management. Therefore contact one of us first (preferably Alex arinkert12@comcast.net) to start making arrangements and getting the word out.

h) Do not share the password, if someone asks how to get access send them to this page.

Access is via a password. To obtain the password and to be added to the list of approved birders please contact the club email scbirdclub@gmail.com and include a statement that affirms that you have read and agree to the code of conduct above.
