CZU Bird Study

The CZU Lightning Complex Fire burned nearly 86,000 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains in August 2020. The following spring, the Santa Cruz Bird Club and Santa Cruz County Fish and Wildlife Advisory Committee sponsored bird surveys to document the immediate impacts of the fire on breeding birds. A report summarizing the preliminary results of that study is now available here.
