Club meeting – Changes in an Amazonian bird community

Changes in the Structure and Organization of an Amazonian Bird Community
After Three Decades

Thursday, November 21 7:00 p.m.

at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History

1305 East Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz

In 1990 researchers documented the structure and organization of an entire
bird community on a 100-hectare plot in in Manu National Park in
southeastern Peru. Professor Ari Martínez of UCSC’s Ecology & Evolutionary
Biology Department revisited the same plot with a team in 2018 to evaluate
community-wide change after 30 years. Martínez will highlight the findings
of this study and its implications for understanding how remote areas are
responding to local and regional changes due to human activity.
